520 ▼a This dissertation contains six chapters detailing recent advances that have been made in the synthesis and fictionalization of Chalcogenide Hybrid Organic/Inorganic Polymers (CHIPs), and the applications of these materials. Primarily focused on the synthesis of polymeric sulfur-rich material constructs of interest for thermal imaging and energy storage, the research described herein discusses progress towards the approaches for the synthesis of functional CHIPs. As such, a blend of novel synthesis, advanced characterization, and application of functional high sulfur-content materials is presented. Additionally, for chapters two through five, a corresponding appendix is included containing supporting data pertinent to the experiments described in the chapter.
