요약 | This dissertation examines issues of social justice in international education development in the Peruvian Andes. The dissertation is divided into three studies. The first study examines the learning process of educational leaders who developed context specific education opportunities for first-generation Indigenous (Quechua) girls who did not have access to secondary school. The second study examines the role of incorporating students' voices into education policy decisions and the danger of using a single analytical orientation to understand and interpret students' voices. The third study utilizes survey data to examine what culturally responsive education might look like within a secondary school when responding to the educational goals of students and parents in a school district where the vast majority of community members are Quechua speakers. The third study also highlights the varieties of values and the cultural complexity within an ostensibly homogenous school district. Each of the studies examines how socially just education might work within a context that historically has faced significant oppression and marginalization. |
