요약 | Objective: To assess changes in health insurance coverage and healthcare utilization on racial/ethnic minorities compared to their white equivalents before and after the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Medicaid eligibility expansion. Methods: Difference-in-difference-in-difference analysis of electronic health record data from community health centers (CHCs) in 10 Medicaid expansion states 6 non-expansion states. We examined pre-post difference of racial/ethnic disparities in health insurance among: 1) all patients, and 2) patients with diabetes in states that chose to expand compared to those that did not. We also assessed differences in healthcare utilization among patients with diabetes. Lastly, we searched the literature to understand how community-level social determinants of health (SDH) are used in primary care to address healthcare disparities. Results: In expansion states, uninsured visits for non-Hispanic white patients had twice the magnitude of decrease compared to uninsured visits for Hispanic patients |
