요약 | Global concerns about sustainability and food system resilience have encouraged the advancement of perennial grains as promising alternatives to annual grain production systems. This dissertation investigates the adaptation potential and nitrogen uptake and partitioning of perennial grain crop: "Kernza" intermediate wheatgrass (Thinopyrum intermedium), a cereal, and measures root nitrogen uptake in silphium (Silphium integrifolium), an oilseed. In order to determine Kernza expansion potential to sub-tropical environments, a greenhouse and growth chamber experiment was completed measuring plant vegetative and reproductive response to variable temperature and daylength treatments. We observed that albeit varied, all treatments ((1) 4 째C and 10 hour daylength |
