요약A great deal of variation in personal variables among adult learners have been found to influence ultimate attainment and second language (L2) pronunciation. The present study explores the relationships among psychological, cultural and social variables that affect adult English language learners' L2 pronunciation and accent, in addition to their views on pronunciation learning, target accent, and perceptions of their own accents in English. Through quantitative and qualitative inquiry using a triangulation mixed-methods design, the variables of confidence, percent of L2 use, resilience, and metalinguistic strategies emerged as important factors in improving L2 pronunciation among late learners studying ESL in the community college context in Northern California.
